University Dance Club at UVA
"Dance for the love of dance"- Thomas Jefferson
Our Mission Statement
To provide the opportunity for any University of Virginia student to "dance for the love of dance" in noncompetitive, relaxed environment and offer members the chance to perform for an audience.
What is UDC?
If you are interested in performing jazz, ballet, lyrical, tap, hip hop, contemporary, or modern during your time at UVA, then UDC is the club for you! The University Dance Club is a student-run organization that allows students to continue their love for dance at UVA. Whether you are a complete beginner or a competitive dancer, we offer classes that fit your experience level!
Fun Facts About UDC
1. UDC dancers audition for the individual pieces they wish to perform every semester. Members do not need to audition to be in the club itself.
2. We want YOU to choreograph! Choreography auditions are held at the beginning of each semester!
3. Most classes require an audition, BUT we also offer an open class each semester! It is a great opportunity to simply have a fun a workout once a week. In the past we have featured hip hop in our open classes, but any genre is welcome. Open dancers still perform in the show at the end of each semester without the pressure of auditioning!
4. You can take as many (or as few) classes as you wish!
5. We are the only dance club at UVA that offers TAP!
6. WE ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST DANCE ORGANIZATIONS ON GROUNDS!
